Established in 1971, the school currently educates over 2,000 students from grades 5 to 12, offering a strong foundation in mathematics, sciences, information technologies, and foreign languages.

The school combines rigorous academic training with modern, career-oriented programs. Students benefit from specialised profiles in Mathematics, Informatics, and Natural Sciences, as well as vocational paths in Software Engineering and Computer Graphics. English and German are taught intensively, with additional options for Russian and French.

Activities, experiences, skills and expertise

MG “Acad. Cyril Popov” has a dynamic educational environment, with continuous improvement of the educational and pedagogical process, preparing the young people in different fields of education: mathematics, informatics, information technologies, computer graphics and design, foreign languages, etc.

In the ambitious goals of the Lisbon Strategy, Academic Kiril Popov works to achieve and improve the system of school education by focusing on: continuous qualification and development of the teaching staff; the formation of key competences; use of ICT in training; effectiveness of investment in education; effective language and market-oriented vocational training; flexibility of educational methods, systems and teaching methods in accordance with the rapidly changing needs of young people, mobility, civic education and others.

Organizing and implementing a quality educational process is the main goal of high school teachers and specialists.

Acad. Kiril Popov Mathematics High School collaborated to the realization and implementation of European and national projects. It has won a project for the establishment of a STEM educational center. The center is not just a renewed learning space with new technologies, and a model for open, inspiring and a creative learning environment. The STEM center unites:

– A space adapted for learning through experience, creation and experimentation;

– Learning content that supports the development of STEM competencies (eg integrated modules of learning content, integrated lessons, new subjects, extracurricular activities, etc.);

– Innovative teaching methods that encourage creativity and critical thinking in students;

– Organization of the learning process, allowing full and in-depth learning;

– Technologies in line with the objectives of the curriculum and creating conditions for practical work with modern tools and programs. 

In parallel, the school team is engaged in the implementation of a KA 2 project under Erasmus + programme also focused on the STEM education issues. It works to foster innovative learning approaches and to stimulate educational innovations through STEM-Knowledge platform by creating opportunities for European cross-border networking. The SAPPHIRE platform will be created in parallel to provide common open source resources and learning space for young people, teachers, educators, youth workers. Acad. Kiril Popov team is working on various mobility actions all around Europe for students and teachers.
