Liceo Artistico “Mengaroni” is a Secondary Art School located in the city of Pesaro with 943 students, 125 teachers and 32 members of staff. The Art departments encompass Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Architecture, Audiovisual and Multimedia, Interior Design and Figurative Arts. Among students, there is a consistent number of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities and others at risk of dropping out due to learning difficulties and integration problems.
Liceo Artistico Mengaroni is also the Education Centre for Inclusion in our province, acting as coordinator for training and support to all local schools and teachers.
The school, responding to the needs and peculiarities of its students, has always dealt with issues related to inclusion and accessibility to learning, showing the capability to put the most appropriate strategies and practices into action, by involving students’ families and thanks to the presence of a team of psychologists and counselors and a group of teachers specialized in the support to students’ difficulties and special learning needs on a large scale.
The principles that guide the school are the right to education and well being for all students. In this perspective a considerable number of activities and interventions have been carried out, especially in the last few years, including: individualization and personalization of learning pathways to respond to individual learning needs; organization of specific training courses and events for teachers; participation in health education projects promoted by local organizations, businesses and educational institutions; creation of a help desk for counseling and psychological support to students and teachers; etc.

Liceo Artistico “Mengaroni” has been involved for years in the prevention of bullying, cyberbullying and any other form of violence by implementing actions and strategies to prevent and contain risky behaviors, such as:
– staff training;
– identification and appointment of a coordinator and a work unit against bullying and cyberbullying acting as an interface with the Police Forces, social services, local associations and community centers, etc.;
– promotion of students’ active role through peer-to-peer activities (also with the involvement of former students);
– specific interventions by school staff or experts;
– familiy involvement.
The Mengaroni lyceum has been coordinator of a successful Erasmus strategic partnership aimed at building a vertical curriculum for the prevention of Cyberbullying at school. It has also introduced among the priority training objectives, the development of students’ digital skills, also aimed at a critical and conscious use of social networks and media. Mengaroni is currently building a digital curriculum in accordance with the descriptors and learning levels of the European Digital Competence Framework, DigComp 2.2. for the education and employment sector.
